Pumpkin Patch 2010
We are noted for our Pumpkin Patch, which is held in October of each year. There is Storytime for children from the area Head Start programs, Pre-kindergarten, Kindergarten and Elementary schools through third grade. The children are told a story about Pumpkins, do dances and exercises and each is given a pumpkin cookie and juice. Afterwards they are allowed to pick their very own pumpkin. These activities are held on weekdays, starting at 9:00 A.M. On Saturdays, there is Playland, from 10:00A.M. until 3:00P.M., where the children can play games, do face painting, crafts and purchase lunch. There is a Country Store filled with crafts homemade goodies and Pumpkins are for sale, in the court yard, every day from 10:00AM until dark. Proceeds go to our church ministries as well as several local charities.
The Pumpkins are on their way! The Thirteenth Annual Pumpkin Patch will begin October 9th and run through October 30th , 2010. The First United Methodist Church of Thibodaux invites you to come and browse through the grounds and pick out that special pumpkin. The patch will remain open Sundays from noon till dark and Monday through Saturdays from 10:00 A.M. till dark. Shoppers will have their pick from over 2000 pumpkins and mini pumpkins. Our Country Store will feature many decorative items for sale and great home baked treats.
Teachers are invited to schedule a field trip to the Patch for an educational storytelling experience. Last year 4700 students visited the patch for Storytime, refreshments and a souvenir pumpkin. Please call the church for details,(985) 447-4287. Office hours are 8:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M.
Saturdays the church courtyard comes alive with Pumpkin Patch Playland. Children enjoy games, arts and crafts, pictures with the characters and food. The Playland will be open 10:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M. October 16 and 23, 2010.
A portion of the proceeds from Pumpkin Patch will be donated to various community charities. Come catch the spirit at the First United Methodist Pumpkin Patch (1255 Canal Blvd., Thibodaux, LA) this fall. What a perfect way for a family to create and share a special memory!
